इतिहास साक्षी है कि प्रेमियों ने अपने प्रियतम को अपने वश में किया होता है। गिरधर गोपाल के प्रेम में मग्न होकर प्रेम-दीवानी मीरा ने विष से भरे प्याले को पी लिया, वही विष उसके लिये अमृत बन गया, धन्ना भक्त के लिये प्रभु को पत्थर में से प्रकट होना पडा, नामदेव के प्रेम को देखकर प्रभु को दूध का भोग लगाने के लिये बाध्य होना पडा, गोस्वामी तुलसीदास जी ने वृन्दावन बिहारी को अपने प्यारे इष्टदेव धनुर्धारी श्री राम जी के वेष में दर्शन देने के लिये विवश कर दिया, भक्त त्रिलोचन जी के घर भगवान् ने अन्तर्यामी नाम धराकर सेवक का वेष धारण कर लिया।

ऐेसे ही सच्चे प्रेम के धनी भक्तों में से भक्त रसखान जी के प्रेम-प्रसंग को पाठकों की रूचि के लिये यहां लिखा जा रहा है, आशा है इसका स्वाध्याय कर पाठकगण प्रभु-प्रेम के सागर में गोता लगाकर प्रेम-मग्न हो जायेंगे-

भगवान् श्री कृष्ण जी की छवि को देखकर भगवान् से मिलने की तीव्र लगन का पैदा होना 

एक बार रसखान स्वप्न में ही बाजार से सामान खरीदने गये। एक दुकान में भगवान् श्री कृष्ण जी के चित्र को सम्मुख देखकर उस प्यारी छवि पर विमुग्ध हो गये। वह छवि उनके उर-स्थल में ऐसी अंकित हो गयी कि स्वप्न में ही वे जान गये कि मेरे प्रियतम का धाम वृन्दावन में है। जब आंख खुली, तो प्रेम में निमग्न होकर वृन्दावन की ओर ही चल दिये। निरन्तर प्रेम-सुधा का पान करते हुए चलते ही गये और पांवों में पडे छालों की भी सुधि न रही। बस ! होठों पर श्याम-श्याम की मधुर झंकार झंकृत हो रही थी। उनके मुगल वेष को देखकर लोग उन्हें उन्मत्त और काफिर कहने लगे। एक व्यक्ति ने उनसे कह दिया कि जिसे तुम खोज रहे हो, उसका घर वह सामने वाला मन्दिर है। 

रसखान जी का विरह की अग्नि में तड़पना 

यह सुनते ही वे मन्दिर में जा पहुंचे और प्रेमाश्रु टपका-टपकाकर श्यामसुन्दर को उलाहना देने लगे-ओ मेरे प्रियतम ! एक रात स्वप्न में अपनी मोहिनी छवि दिखाकर मेरा मन चुरा लिया, फिर कभी दिखाई ही न दिये। बडे ही निर्दयी हो तुम ! मुझे तुमने कितना तडपाया ! तुम्हारे पीछे मैं दीवाना बन गया हूं। काया तो तुम्हारी अति सुन्दर है, परन्तु हृदय को तुमने पत्थर के समान कठोर कर लिया है।

भक्त रसखान के मुख से ऐसा सुनकर मन्दिर का पुजारी उनसे बोला-अरे मूढ ! तू   भगवान को उलाहना देता है। तुझे अपने प्राण प्यारे हैं, तो तू यहां से  भाग जा, अन्यथा तेरा कुशल नहीं।

भक्त रसखान ने कहा-मुझे क्यों भगाते हो, मैं पहले ही दुखों का मारा हूं।

परन्तु पुजारी ने उसकी एक न सुनी और धक्के देकर मन्दिर से बाहर निकाल दिया। भक्त रसखान अर्द्धमूर्छित हो स्वयं को असहाय जानकर मन्दिर के बाहर एक कोने में बैठ गये। संध्या हुई, तो पुजारी पूजा करके रात को मन्दिर के पट बन्दकर अपने घर चला गया। 

भगवान् का भक्त रसखान के सच्चे प्रेम को देखकर साकार रूप में प्रकट होना 

उधर भक्त वत्सल भगवान् भक्त रसखान के सच्चे प्रेम को देखकर साकार रूप धर अपने आगे पडी मिठाई के थाल उठाकर भक्त रसखान के पास जा पहुंचे।

वहां पहुंचकर प्रभु बोले-ओ खान ! उठो ! देखो, भूख के मारे मेरे प्राण निकले जा रहे हैं। आज तुम ही मुझे अपने हाथों से कुछ खिला दो।

भगवान के साक्षात् दर्शन पाकर भक्त रसखान चकित होकर बोले-तुम्हें भोजन मिला ही नहीं अथवा खाया ही नहीं ?

श्याम बोले-! हे प्रेमी ! जब तक मेरा भक्त न खाये, तब तक मैं कैसे खा सकता हूं ? भक्त जब दुखी हो, तो मैं कैसे सुखी हो सकता हूं ?

भगवान् के साक्षात् दर्शन पाकर रसखान के सब दुख-दर्द दूर हो गये

यह सुनकर भक्त रसखान के हर्ष की सीमा ही न रही। उनके सब दुख-दर्द दूर हो गये। उस समय का आनन्द वही जान सकता है, जिसने भक्त रसखान की तरह अपने बिछडे हुए प्रियतम को पा लिया हो। ऐसी लीलायें करते और खाते-खिलाते सारी रात बीत गयी।

प्रभात का समय था। भक्त रसखान से भगवान् बोले-बताओ तो सही मेरे लिये क्या लाये हो ? 

भक्त रसखान ने अपना लाया हुआ पठान का भेष सामने रख दिया।

भगवान् बोले-शीघ्र पहनाओ मित्र !

भगवान् का पठान वाला वेश धारण करना 

भक्त के हाथों वाला पठानवाला भेष धारण करके भगवान् मन्दिर में जा विराजे। अब, जब पुजारी आया और मन्दिर के पट खोले, वह तो देखते ही दंग रह गया। अरे, यह क्या ? आज तो मोरमुकुट, पीताम्बरधारी भगवान् पठान बने बैठे हैं। शीश पर तिल्लेवाली पगडी, सलमा वाली जैकेट और रेशमी सलवार पहने हुए हैं। न यहां मिठाई के थाल ही हैं और न ही कोई अन्य बर्तन ! विचित्र कौतुक है यह !

इतने में कुछ सज्जन वहां आये और पुजारी से बोले कि मन्दिर के समस्त बर्तन बाहर खान के पास पडे हैं। पुजारी बाहर गया और भक्त रसखान को देखा ! अब, सारा कौतुक उसकी समझ में आने लगा। भक्त से किये गये अपने दुर्व्यवहार के प्रति उनके चरणों में गिरकर वह पुजारी उनसे क्षमायाचना करने लगा। भक्त रसखान जी ने उसे क्षमा करते हुए प्रेमपूर्वक अपने गले लगा लिया।

जिस भाव को लेकर भगवान् का स्मरण किया जाता है उसी अनुरूप भगवान् भक्त की भावनाओं को पूर्ण करते हैं 

अर्थात् जो कोई प्रभु को जैसा स्मरण करता है, वे वैसे ही प्रकट होकर उसकी भावनाओं को पूर्ण करते हैं। ऐसे सच्चे प्रेम को देखकर वे रह नहीं सकते, वहां सारी मर्यादाएं टूट जाती हैं। भगवान् शिव जी कथन करते हैं कि :-

।। दोहा ।।

उमा जोग जप दान तप,           नाना मख ब्रत नेम।

राम कृपा नहिं करहिं तसि, जसि निष्केवल प्रेम।।

(श्रीरामचरित मानस, लंकाकाण्ड)

अर्थः-हे पार्वती! अनेकों प्रकार के योग, जप, दान, तप, यज्ञ, व्रत, और नियम करने पर भी प्रभु वैसी कृपा नहीं करते, जैसी अनन्य प्रेम होने पर करते हैं।

प्रेम-दीवानी विदुरानी भगवान् श्री कृष्ण जी के स्वागत के लिये कुछ सोच ही नहीं सकी और केले ले आयी। प्रेम में मग्न होकर वह छिलके तो भगवान् को देती गयी और गीरी नीचे गिराती गयी। भगवान् भी बहुत प्रेम से छिलकों का ही भोग लगाते रहे। सत्य तो यह है कि प्रभु भाव को स्वीकार करते हैं, व्यंजनों को नहीं। जैसा कि स्वयं भगवान् श्री कृष्णचन्द्र जी के वचन हैं कि :-

।। श्लोक ।।

पत्रं पुष्पं फलं तोयं यो मे भक्त्या प्रयच्छति।

तदहं भक्त्युपहृतमश्नामि          प्रतात्मनः।

(श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता)

अर्थः- पत्र, पुष्प, फल, जल इत्यादि जो कोई प्रेमी भक्त मेरे लिये प्रेम से अर्पण करता है, उस प्रेमी भक्त का प्रेमपूर्वक अर्पण किया हुआ वह पत्र-पुष्प् आदि मैं सगुणरूप से प्रकट होकर, प्रीतिसहित खाता हूं।

इससे स्पष्ट है कि प्रभु केवल सच्चे प्रेम को ही देखते हैं। यदि उन्हें प्राप्त करना हो, तो इसी अमूल्य निधि-प्रेम के द्वारा ही सम्भव हो सकता है, परन्तु तभी जब भक्त प्रभु प्रेम में विभोर होकर पहले अपना सर्वस्व भेंट कर चुका हो। ऐसा प्रेमी सदा के लिये आनन्दरूप हो जाता है। उसे कण-कण में प्रियतम की मनोहारी छवि दृष्टिगोचर होने लगती है और वह उस उल्लास में लीन हुआ उनके ध्यान में मग्न रहता है। इसी अवस्था की प्राप्ति के लिये ही तो भरत जी यह वर मांगते हैं किः-

।। दोहा ।।

अरथ न धरम न काम रूचि, गति न चहउं निरबान।

जनम जनम रति राम पद,     यह वरदान न आन।।

(श्रीरामचरितमानस, अयोध्याकाण्ड)

अर्थात् मुझे न तो सांसारिक पदार्थों की इच्छा है आर न ही मैं मोक्ष को ही चाहता हूं। जन्म-जन्म में मेरा प्रेम श्री प्रभु के चरणों में हो, बस ! यही वरदान मांगता हूं, दूसरा कुछ नहीं।

धन्य हैं  वे जीव, जो सन्त-सद्गुरू की शरण में पहुंचकर उनके चरणकमलों से अपने प्रेम की डोर बांधते हैं। संसार के क्षणिक एवं मिथ्या सुखैश्वर्यों को त्यागकर श्री सद्गुरूदेव जी महाराज जी की प्रेमस्वरूपा भक्ति को अपनाते हैं, जिससे उनमें जगत् के नाशवान पदार्थों का कोई मोह नहीं रह जाता। वे तो प्रभु-प्रेम के सागर में गोता लगाकर सराबोर हो जाते हैं और आत्मिक आनन्द की प्राप्तिकर अपना जीवन सार्थक बना लेते हैं।

History is witness that lovers have subdued their beloved. Delighted in the love of Girdhar Gopal, the love-obsessed Meera drank the cup full of poison, the same poison became nectar for him, the Lord had to appear from the stone for the devotee of Dhanna, seeing the love of Namdev, the Lord had to drink milk. Forced to offer Bhog, Goswami Tulsidas ji forced Vrindavan Bihari to appear in the guise of his beloved presiding deity, the archer Shri Ram ji, in the house of devotee Trilochan ji, the Lord took the form of a servant by taking the name of Antaryami.

In the same way, among the rich devotees of true love, the love affair of Bhakta Raskhan ji is being written here for the interest of the readers, it is hoped that after self-study, the readers will be immersed in the ocean of love and love.

Once Raskhan went to buy goods from the market in his dream. Seeing the picture of Lord Shri Krishna ji in front of a shop, he was fascinated by that lovely image. That image was inscribed in his Ur-sthal in such a way that in his dream he came to know that the abode of my beloved is in Vrindavan. When his eyes opened, he immersed himself in love and went towards Vrindavan. He went on walking while drinking the love-sudha continuously and did not even care about the ulcers lying on his feet. Bus ! The sweet chimes of black and white were chiming in on the lips. Seeing his Mughal garb, people started calling him mad and infidel. A person told them that the house of the one you are looking for is the one in front of the temple. Upon hearing this, he went to the temple and began to rebuke Shyamsundar by dripping his love-soaks - O my dearest one! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . One night he stole my mind in a dream by showing his siren image, never to be seen again. You are so cruel! You tormented me so much! I have become crazy after you. Your body is very beautiful, but you have hardened your heart like a stone.

Hearing this from the mouth of the devotee Raskhan, the priest of the temple said to him - Oh fool! You insult God. If you love your life, then you run away from here, otherwise you are not well.

Devotee Raskhan said - Why do you drive me away, I have already killed the miseries.

But the priest did not listen to him and pushed him out of the temple. Devotee Raskhan became half-conscious and sat in a corner outside the temple knowing himself to be helpless. When evening came, the priest went to his house after worshiping and closing the doors of the temple at night. On the other hand, the devotee Vatsal, seeing the true love of the devotee Raskhan, took a corporeal form and lifted the plate of sweets lying in front of him and went to the devotee Raskhan.

After reaching there, the Lord said - O Khan! get up ! Look, my life is going out because of hunger. Today you feed me something with your own hands.

Devotee Raskhan was astonished after getting a glimpse of the Lord and said – Have you not received or eaten food at all?

Shyam said- O lover! How can I eat until my devotee eats? How can I be happy when a devotee is sad?

Hearing this, there was no limit to the joy of the devotee Raskhan. All their sorrows and pains went away. The joy of that time can be known only by the one who, like the devotee Raskhan, has found his lost loved one. The whole night passed while doing such pastimes and eating and feeding.

It was morning. God said to the devotee Raskhan - Tell me, what have you brought for me right?

The devotee Raskhan put forward the disguise of the pathan he had brought.

God said - wear it soon friend!

The Pathanwala in the hands of the devotee disguised himself as the Lord and sat in the temple. Now, when the priest came and opened the doors of the temple, he was stunned. oh, what is this? Today, the Mormukut, Pitambar-dhari God has become a Pathan. She is wearing a turban with a turban, a jacket with salma and a silk salwar. There are neither dessert plates nor any other utensils! This is a strange joke!

In this, some gentlemen came there and told the priest that all the utensils of the temple were lying outside the mine. The priest went out and saw the devotee Raskhan. Now, the whole prodigy began to make sense to him. Falling at his feet for his misbehavior with the devotee, the priest started apologizing to him. Devotee Raskhan ji, forgiving him, embraced him lovingly.

That is, as one who remembers the Lord, they appear in the same way and fulfill his feelings. Seeing such true love, they cannot live there, all limits are broken. Lord Shiva says that :-

.. Doha..

Uma jog, chanting charity, penance, nana makh brata name.

Ram kripa nahi karhin tasi, just like unconditional love.

Meaning: Oh Parvati! Even after doing many types of yoga, chanting, charity, austerity, yagya, fasting, and rules, the Lord does not give the same kind of grace as he does when there is exclusive love.

Prem-dewan Vidurani could not think of anything to welcome Lord Shri Krishna ji and brought bananas. Being engrossed in love, she kept on giving the peels to God and the kernels kept falling down. God also continued to enjoy the peels with great love. The truth is that GOD accepts the sentiment, not the food. As the words of Lord Shri Krishnachandra ji himself say:-

..Verse..

Patram Pushpam Phalam Toyam Yo Mein Bhaktya Prayachati.

Tadaham bhaktyupahritmashnami pratatmanah.

(Shrimad Bhagavad Gita)

Meaning: Whatever love-loving devotee offers to Me with love, the leaf-flowers, etc., offered to that loving devotee with love, appear virtuously, I eat with love.

It is clear from this that God sees only true love.
